Celebrity owned wines & wineries are, of course, are not new. Film maker Francis Ford Coppola has a long and relatively distinguished history of winemaking, Jurassic Park star Sam Neill is owner of the highly regarded Two Paddocks winery and cricket legend Sir Ian Botham is very much involved with his own range of wines.
And that's not even before we mention Gary Barlow, Kylie, Brad Pitt, Graham Norton & Gordon Ramsey
Celebrity endorsed wines come with a price premium, so are they worth the extra money? Passion projects from long time wine enthusiasts or self-serving marketing stunts?
Spend an evening exploring the world of "celebrity wines". We'll taste 6 celebrity wines in a blind-tasting competition. If you take the jazzy label off, hide the "face" behind the brand and cover up the price tag, will the wine in the bottle be up to scratch? Or is it a well-marketed gimmick in a very crowded wine market?
