Event Description
Today, Romania is Eastern Europe's most important wine economy. Some 2,700 years ago, the ancient Greeks settled in, what is today, Romania and established a flourish viticultural scene.
Romania's wine story is extraordinarily mixed; the land is a melting pot of historical cultures: the Greeks, Hungarians, Austrians & Ottoman Turks have all had a hand in Romania's political past and yet wine making has flourished, uninterrupted.
Today, Romania's Latin cultural roots & Romance language mean wine has a strong influence in their lifestyle - both in terms of wine-making & consumption; they export around 11% of production!
Join us for a unique chance to explore Romania's incredible indigenous grapes such as Fetească regală, Welschrielsing, Rkatsiteli & Tămâioasă Românească - highly unusual on the UK market so a wonderful chance to explore wonderfully unusual wines!
Your tasting will include: a tasting samples of six carefully selected wines, tasting samples of artisan cheeses, full wine notes & handouts, a 2 hour interactive presentation, with Q&A, led by our wine tutor.
