ONLINE WINEMAKER LED TASTING SERIES Alison Nightingale from Albourne Estate
We are so excited to announce the first in a new series of ‘Meet the Winemaker’ online tasting sessions: Sussex wine producer Albourne Estate with Alison Nightingale on Friday 8th May from 6:00pm – 6:45pm and Friday 15th May from 6:00pm – 6:45pm.
Award winning Albourne Estate is a family run business and their grapes are exclusively grown, sustainably produced and carefully hand-blended on site.
They are a deliberately small producer with just over 10 hectares (26 acres) of vines. Capturing the essence of variety, vintage and vineyard requires an enlightened approach and meticulous attention to detail at every step of the process – the small scale of their business allows them to be fastidious. The quality of their grapes and dedication to their craft ensures the wines are of superior character and flavour. This high quality Sussex wine estate is celebrating its 10 Year Anniversary on 1st May 2020.
Owner and winemaker Alison Nightingale studied viticulture and winemaking at Plumpton College part-time (as have many other UK vineyard owners and workers) while her daughters were of pre-school age. The Viticulture & Oenology degree at Plumpton is the only one of its kind in the UK.
Alison says: "Making wine is fascinating, and running the vineyard and winery is involving, fun (at times!), extremely hard work, nerve-wracking, stressful and challenging; but I am my own boss and can juggle the needs of my family with my family business."
TASTING SERIES DATES (Both sessions begins at 6:00pm and will last approximately 45 minutes):
- Friday 8th May 2020
- Friday 15th May 2020
COURSE STRUCTURE AND FORMAT:
Each evening winemaker Alison Nightingale will be joining us live with Jonny Gibson. Alison will host each session live at 6:00pm over 2 consecutive Fridays. Each session will be approximately 45 minutes in length. Unable to commit to each evening? No problem! Anyone registered for this tasting series will gain access to the video recordings of each session, so you can always revisit any of these at anytime in the future - whether its because you missed participating in the live evening or if you want to revisit the presentation at a later date.
Each evening, Alison and Jonny will be tasting three wines that are discussed during that evening's session. A case of each wine covered throughout the course (6 in total) will be available to order for anyone registered to attend the course, so if you'd like, you can also purchase and enjoy the wines with Alison and Jonny on the night (or at a later date).
